January 1, 1985: Unhorsemanlike Conduct? The Orange Bowl has seen its share of bizarre moments. Among the strangest involved Oklahoma's mascot--the Sooner Schooner. The Sooner Schooner was a covered wagon pulled by ponies which would traditionally come on the field after every Oklahoma score. But due to heavy rain earlier in the day creating muddy conditions, Orange Bowl officials had requested the schooner avoid the field.
