In April 1946, over 50 Holocaust survivors known as Nakam, meaning vengeance in Hebrew, sought their own justice. Led by Joseph Harmatz, they infiltrated a bakery near Nuremberg supplying bread to Stalag 13, a camp for SS officers. They coated roughly 3000 loaves with a mixture of arsenic and glue, aiming to kill 12000 SS prisoners. Although more than 2200 prisoners fell ill, all recovered.
