First things first. Lake Serene is fantastic and gorgeous and worth the 5 trillion steep stairs I had to walk up to get there. But! despite its beauty my first visit to Lake Serene was a mixed bag. The clouds were even lower than forecasted so I wasn't able to see Mount Index towering over the west shore or any of the other hills more than a couple of hundred feet above the lake.
