The Manila Massacre occurred in February 1945 during the Battle of Manila in WW2, when retreating Japanese forces under Rear Admiral Sanji Iwabuchi brutally targeted Filipino civilians. Over the course of the month, Japanese troops committed mass executions, rape, arson, and other atrocities against an estimated 100,000 non-combatants in the city. Entire families were killed, hospitals and chur
