Citing US restrictions, Google removed Kaspersky Lab’s antivirus software from the Play Store and terminated its developer account in the days leading up to the September 29th deadline of the restrictions, according to a Kaspersky blog post yesterday.

Russian cybersecurity company Kaspersky has said that it is closing down its UK office, reported TechCrunch, citing a company spokesperson. There are fewer than 50 employees in the London office but dozens will be laid off, with the move coming a few months after a similar exercise was carried out in the U.S.

The apps were removed for US and international users, even though the 'restrictions have no material legal effect outside the US,' Kasperksy says.
