Amazon is seeking to dismiss a class-action lawsuit filed by Prime Video users disgruntled over its addition of ads by default. In the Oct. 4 filing, the ecommerce giant pointed to its terms and conditions,

In a statement to Ars Technica, an Amazon spokesperson tried to gloss over the threat of “more” ads for Prime Video customers: “We have not changed our plans to have significantly fewer ads than linear TV and other streaming TV providers and to evaluate ad volume to ensure we deliver a great customer experience.”

The company says its user agreement explicitly states it can add or remove benefits from Prime membership at will. The introduction of ads to Amazon’s streaming service Prime Video followed a very different pattern than most other streaming services.

The tech giant cites its terms of service, which state that it "may choose in its sole discretion to add or remove Prime membership benefits."
