KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Kansas City Fire started the morning early with a report of 8 water rescues beginning at 2:45 a.m. Each of the rescues involved vehicles stuck in high water at various locations throughout the city. KCFD did respond to a vehicle in high water at 3:37 a.m., in the area of I-435 and 23rd Street.
A few good Samaritans were honored Wednesday night in Gloucester for rescuing people from the water in June. “It’s just been kind of crazy thinking about everything, just trying to piece it all together now that we’re able to kind of talk about it without having a breakdown,” said Keri Ann Perry, who’s also a nurse.
More than five inches fell in some suburbs of the capital. The authorities in Maryland rescued dozens of people, including some who were stranded in their cars.
Multiple drivers ignored the warning and chanced driving through the high water. Emergency crews warn doing so is incredibly dangerous. The Kansas City Fire Department said it responded to eight water rescues Thursday night into Friday morning. Additional rescues are possible if it continues to rain.
