Minnesota election results: 2025 local races

Here is a roundup of election results from across Minnesota, including the Minneapolis and St. Paul mayoral races, special elections in the Minnesota Senate, and local school board races.
The DFL is projected to keep control of the Minnesota Senate after two seats were up for election Tuesday. Democrats are expected to keep a 33-32 advantage in the state Senate, after the resignation of DFL Sen. Nicole Mitchell and the death of Republican Sen. Bruce Anderson left two spots open.
The incoming mayor of St. Paul, Kaohly Her, has officially submitted her letter of resignation to Gov. Tim Walz from her seat in the Minnesota House of Representatives. It’s effective on Monday, Nov. 17 at 11:59 p.m.
Election wins for two state representatives Tuesday put Minnesota on track to beat its record of most special elections in one year.
Vote counts, which can be found on the Minnesota Star Tribune results page, will show who’s leading in the Minneapolis and St. Paul mayoral races, in municipal and school board elections around the state, and in two special state Senate races, in Woodbury and Wright County.
Successful bids from two current House members mean there will be two more special elections, though likely not before the end of the year.
Sometimes ‘you need to speak up about national issues, because it affects us all,’ a winning candidate said. Affordability is one of them.
Democrats will maintain control after Amanda Hemmingsen-Jaeger won the District 47 race, while Republican Michael Holmstrom Jr. will represent District 29.
