Tom Troupe, a stage and TV actor who appeared in "Star Trek," "Murder, She Wrote" and "Cheers," died Sunday morning at his home in Beverly Hills.

The character actor appeared in a wide variety of TV shows and stage productions after serving in the Korean War.

Tom Troupe, a longtime Broadway actor and writer best known for his television appearances in “Star Trek” and “Cheers,” has died. He was 97. Troupe died Sunday, July 20, five days after his birthday in his Beverly Hills, Ca., home from natural causes, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
