Big Ten commissioner Tony Petitti shared an update on the Protect College Sports Act during the conference’s Media Days. While speaking to reporters, Petitti said the amended bill should arrive very soon.

The retention pool jumped to $22.5 million as Senators Ted Cruz and Maria Cantwell secured support from Big Ten and SEC before the August recess.

Efforts to pass legislation governing the nation’s $19 billion college sports industry are teetering amid a fierce lobbying fight over media rights and antitrust protections. The Protect College Sports Act advanced out of the Senate Commerce Committee on a 19-9 vote last month that pulled in seven Democrats.
