Craig Berube's update on injury to Anthony Stolarz puts the Maple Leafs in a bind with the club already working shorthanded in between the pipes.
Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube did not have a timeline for the lower-body injury suffered by Auston Matthews on Tuesday, but doesn't believe the upper-body injury sustained by goaltender Anthony Stolarz is serious.
Stolarz, who signed a new four-year, $15 million extension before the start of this season, has seen his performance slip this season to 6-5-1 with an .889 save percentage. There were a couple of goals that appears to just slip through the control of his pads that the goaltender admitted he would like back.
Despite his recent challenges, Stolarz has had a mixed record against the Bruins throughout his career. In four regular-season appearances against this formidable opponent, he holds a record of 2-1-1. However, his GAA against the Bruins is still a concerning 3.44, which reflects the difficulties he has faced in critical moments.
Anthony Stolarz had a rough day at the office on Saturday for the Toronto Maple Leafs, as he was pulled after allowing four goals on 19 shots through a period and a half against the Boston Bruins.
