The Android Auto app has just been updated to version 13.0, with no major features in sight. However, new strings within the app show that work towards local media support, which is now referred to as Car Media, carries on.

Android Auto 13.0 is now available for drivers. This release brings users closer to the anticipated feature of controlling media. In the future, Android Auto will allow control of the radio or music from a USB drive connected to the car.

AAWireless is already offering CarPlay support in beta on some models, but the feature will soon launch out of the box for everybody

Android Auto 12.9 is now available for drivers. This is an opportunity to update the app on your phone and start using new features, or at least be prepared for them to be enabled server-side. Android Auto is typically supplemented with new functionalities in this manner.
