By Auzinea Bacon, CNN (CNN) — Internet and cable provider Spectrum has reported outages in Los Angeles are “caused by a criminal act of vandalism,” according to a company post Sunday on X.

A $25,000 reward was offered in connection with an internet outage caused by a criminal act of vandalism Sunday that affected thousands of Los Angeles Spectrum customers, according to the company.

Thirteen cables were severed in the June 15 incident, cutting service to a U.S. military base, 911 and other emergency dispatch centers, fire and police departments and healthcare facilities.

Spectrum and Los Angeles police are searching for at least one suspect who cut fiber-optic wires in Van Nuys, leading to internet outages in Los Angeles and Ventura counties on Sunday, June 15.
