Lyft Unveils Major New Feature
Lyft has revealed a new feature, which will allow users to designate favorite drivers and ride with them when possible. Earlier this week, Lyft's main competitor Uber also said it was launching a new feature in select U.S. cities, which allows women riders and drivers to opt to be matched with women.
Lyft has added new personalization and safety features that allow for a better ride experience for both drivers and passengers. The ride-share app just announced that riders will now have the option to favorite drivers if they had a particularly great ride and want to use that same driver again.
Ride-sharing app Lyft on Thursday introduced a new feature that lets riders "favorite" drivers and choose to ride with them when they are available.
Uber will soon roll out its "women preference" feature in the U.S., starting with Detroit, Los Angeles, and San Francisco.
Uber has announced that Women Preferences, a feature which will allow women riders to be matched exclusively with women drivers and vice versa, is being tested in the US. This feature was first launched in Saudi Arabia in 2019. Competitor Lyft has also operated its Women+ Connect program since 2023.
Riders who have particularly pleasant rides will now get the option to favorite specific drivers, and the app's algorithm will make an effort to reconnect them with that driver for future rides. On the other end, the company explains, when a driver is favorited they will be notified and unlock priority access to future scheduled ride requests.
The new option, available on Lyft, will appear on the app, but if the wait time is too long, Uber says riders can easily opt for a faster pickup.
Lyft Inc. is letting riders “favorite” or block their rideshare drivers as part of a broader effort to keep both users and drivers on the platform.
Like Uber, Lyft offers an array of ride choices to fit your personal needs. (Like Uber, however, we have only needed a standard Lyft or, at most, a Lyft XL for when accompanying a large group.) STOP!
