First reported by MLB.com's Jason Beck, No. 10 prospect Troy Melton has been called up by the team and has been penciled in by Detroit skipper A.J. Hinch to make his debut Wednesday against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Melton was selected by Detroit in the fourth round of the 2022 MLB Draft with the 117th overall pick out of San Diego State University.
The three-error Tigers lost, 8-5, to the Pittsburgh Pirates on Tuesday, July 22, at PNC Park, dropping eight of their past nine games — and posting a 14-17 record since June 14.
