On the 50th anniversary of "The Texas Chain Saw Massacre," the film remains a significant influence on the Texas film industry, particularly in Central Texas.

Mayor Kirk Watson proclaimed Oct. 11 as Texas Chain Saw Massacre Day, as several actors from the original film were present. Watson recalled his own memories of the cult classic film, and reflected on a conversation he once had with the film's director,

"Texas Chain Saw Massacre" was released in Oct. 1974 after being filmed in Central Texas towns including Bastrop, Round Rock, Leander and Watterson, according to the film's IMDb page.
