Multiple crews have been on scene in Owenton since Monday night sifting through the damage left behind from a deadly helicopter crash, and the Grant County community is grieving the loss of local heroes.

Authorities showed WHAS11 into the wooded area of Owenton where the broken fuselage of the medical chopper laid on the grass.

Three crew members aboard a medical helicopter died after it crashed near Owenton, Kentucky. on Monday, according to the crew’s parent company. A statement from Air Evac Lifeteam said one of its helicopters – Air Evac 133 – crashed responding to an emergency call at around 6 p.m.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said around 6 p.m., a Bell 206 helicopter with three people on board hit a guy wire while landing and crashed in Owenton. The helicopter caught fire just after the crash. The Owen County Coroner’s Office told FOX 56 News the helicopter crashed near Owen County High School.
