Police in Brazil swooped on the home and political headquarters of Jair Bolsonaro early Friday, searching the properties, ordering the former president to wear an electronic ankle tag, barring him from speaking to foreign officials or approaching embassies and prohibiting him from using social media.

Jair Bolsonaro criticised the Supreme Court's order for him to wear an electronic ankle monitor and not use social media, calling it humiliating. He aims to maintain his political presence while facing a trial for an alleged coup attempt and seeks to discuss tariffs with Trump.

Bolsonaro has also been barred from contacting his own son, who has close ties to Trump, as part of criminal proceedings
