Brazil's federal police served on Friday search warrants at former President Jair Bolsonaro's home and the headquarters of his Liberal Party, Bolsonaro's press office said.

President Donald Trump took to Truth Social Thursday evening calling for an immediate end to what he called "unjust" political attacks against former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro.

The Trump administration launched a trade investigation against Brazil on Tuesday, just one week after blasting Brasília for its treatment of ally former President Jair Bolsonaro. The trade investigation ostensibly regards unfair trade practices.

The United States has begun investigating Brazil’s trade practices and “anti-corruption interference,” after the president’s criticisms of Brazil’s treatment of Jair Bolsonaro, a Trump ally.

"In light of the urgency of the matter, the Brazilian government reiterates its interest in receiving comments from the U.S. government on the proposal," the statement said, suggesting there were "areas of negotiation where we could further explore mutually agreed solutions.
