Source: Kentucky Lottery. The Kentucky Lottery says two winning tickets have been purchased at Kroger stores in Kentucky. According to a release by the Kentucky Lottery, a Powerball drawing on Saturday night produced two winning Powerball tickets.
The odds of winning the Powerball jackpot (five numbers plus the Powerball) are 1 in 292.2 million. The chances of taking home the Match 5 prize is 1 in 11.68 million, while the four numbers plus the Powerball has odds of 1 in 913,129.18.
There have been 12 grand prizes that reached $1 billion or more, and only once in US history did a jackpot surpass $2 billion.
More than 365,000 other Powerball tickets sold in the United States also won prizes ranging from $4 to $2 million, the lottery said.
The lucky lottery player, identified as Paul Corcoran of Fitchburg, said he mistakenly purchased one of the tickets.
Paul Corcoran won two separate $1 million Powerball jackpots in under a week, the Massachusetts Lottery announced.
